Today, I took 3 phone calls from potential clients, created a landing page for a client, wrote this email, and finished reading I Am Legend in one sitting.
Also, across my multiple income streams, I generated $4,808 in profit today.
That was my work day.
Started at 1:30PM, done by 6PM.
Some look at that and say, “IMPOSSIBLE! YOU SCAM ARTIST TELLING LIES! BUSINESSES REQUIRE 16 HOUR DAYS!”
I get it.
I completely understand why people doubt.
They doubt because they have their priorities mixed up.
What they think is important in growing a business…
… actually isn’t.
Let me break it down for you:
All businesses need cash to survive.
Without it, it’s just a hobby.
To get cash, you need someone to give it to you.
To convince someone to give you money, you need to have something they value that you can exchange for monies.
In order for someone to believe that what you have is valuable enough to spend money on, you need to tell them about it.
The more people you tell, the more money you make.
Here’s what you DON’T need:
- “Social clout”
- “Engagement”
- “A following”
- A fancy website
- A massive team
- A 50-step funnel
- The perfect planner
- The perfect plan
- 9 different content channels
- A pristine work space
- An empty inbox
- The latest social media updates
- etc. etc. etc.
The reason 99% of business owners work 12+ hours a day… is because they spend the first 8 hours on low priority stuff.
Cut out the low priority stuff and all of a sudden you’ve got free time.
Example:
High Priority Action: Playing chess with my son
Low Priority Action: Answering emails from people who want stuff from me
High Priority Action: Writing an email like this with an offer at the end
Low Priority Action: Checking how many people “liked” my Facebook post
High Priority Action: Selling a client on the phone
Low Priority Action: Worrying about whether or not people like this email
etc. etc. etc.
When you really get clear about your priorities, the first thing you realize is:
“Dang, I’ve been wasting a ton of my time on stuff that really doesn’t matter.”
Working 20 – 30 hours a week and earning six-figures per year isn’t a pipe dream, but it does take discipline.
The discipline to know what matters, what doesn’t, and to only do the stuff that matters.
If you’ve never sat down with a pen and paper to ask yourself “what is most important in my business, and what is most important in my life”… you ought to do that today.
Then, with that clarity, you start getting rid of every low priority action that has been clogging up your day and tricking you into thinking you’re “being productive”.
Suddenly, you see that a “lifestyle business” is not only possible, it’s the healthier and more efficient way to grow.
